A focused ultrasound examination used to evaluate a specific area of the abdomen, such as the liver, gallbladder or another region based on your provider’s order and symptoms. Preparation requirements may vary depending on the area being examined.

Evaluates the abdominal aorta, the body's largest artery, including its size and appearance. This exam may be ordered to screen for or monitor an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Fasting may be required before your appointment.

Uses ultrasound and Doppler imaging to evaluate blood flow through the arteries. This examination can help identify narrowing, blockages, or other abnormalities affecting circulation in the arms or legs.

Uses ultrasound and Doppler imaging to evaluate the carotid arteries in the neck and assess blood flow to the brain. It can help identify plaque buildup, narrowing, or other vascular abnormalities.

Evaluates the kidneys and urinary bladder for abnormalities such as kidney stones, urinary obstruction, cysts, or other findings. Depending on the examination ordered, you may be asked to arrive with a full bladder.

Evaluates the uterus, endometrium and ovaries and may be ordered for pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding or other gynecologic concerns. Depending on the indication, transabdominal and/or transvaginal imaging may be performed.

Evaluates the testicles and surrounding structures and may be ordered for pain, swelling, a palpable lump or other concerns. Doppler imaging may also be used to assess blood flow.

Evaluates the thyroid gland for nodules, enlargement, cysts and other abnormalities. Thyroid ultrasound provides detailed imaging of the gland and surrounding tissues without radiation.

Evaluates blood flow through the veins, most commonly in the arms or legs. This examination may be ordered to evaluate swelling, pain or other symptoms and can help detect a blood clot such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
